Music has always been a part of my life. Without music, I probably would have gone crazy a long time ago. More than that, it has helped shape my personality and outlook on life. Music has taken me to places in my mind I didn’t know existed.
It has given me the words that I need when I have felt voiceless. It has stopped me from feeling lonely when I’m alone. Music has been shown to activate some of the broadest and most diverse networks of the brain.
Just listening to music or experiencing it live has helped me through some of my greatest struggles in life. I always found a way to incorporate music into my daily life, whether it be by blasting my favorite music, or listening quietly in my headphones.
Music can shape who someone becomes by listening to it for comfort, grieving, celebratory reasons, and a way to get away from everything. I used music to get away from all the stress of everyday life. Music can make us feel all sorts of emotions, some of which are negative during times your mad.
Music has the power to culturally, morally, and emotionally influence our society. Thus, the more intentional we become with the sounds, messages, and moods we create and release through our music.
Music taste is so important; there is a reason why its one of the most asked questions you ask when you first meet someone. When you find people with similar musical interests you are able to share a love together.
Hip-hop gave me a voice, gave me knowledge and allowed me to transform my pain from the internal prison I created into creativity. Music helped me heal, find purpose and eventually offered a path out of poverty for my children.
